A colorful art exhibit displaying for the most part the great talent of the fine arts department faculty 'opened last night in the Upstairs Gallery, Harris Hall. The exhibit will be open from 9 to 12 in the morning and 1 to 5 in the afternoon. The show illustrates the talents of the many artists on the faculty, each of whom loaned five works to represent their particular field of art.
Paintings done in various mediums line the walls. Five abstract impressionistic, paintings called "The Hudson River Series" represent the work of James Jarvaise. The paintings, done in bright color, show an uncontrolled free usage giving little depth and a two-dimensional feeling. The paintings, landscapes, are done mostly in whites, greens, browns, and some yellow and red.
Francis deErdely brilliantly captured with pen and ink and watercolor the torso and power found in the human figure. There is great control and depth found in each of deErdely's pictures. The grace, and beauty contained within the muscles of the human body are magnificently caught in the picture of a ballet dancer.
